                                         Early explorations using lego/shadows/hands/pegs
Ignorance is a dilemma that many newbie graphic designers face in the starting of their careers. Their lack of knowledge about a particular aspect of design is often taken negatively. While there is no arguing the fact that one should be well equipped and educated in order to excel in life, ignorance should not be considered a folly.   ...

                                                      Johnny Cupcakes Mascot Toy
"Our first entries into the toy world are finally here! We know they’ve been hinted at for a long time, shown in full at New York Comic Con, and promised to be available for some time now… but they’re really here, seriously. Seeing our mascot and our logo fully realized in a tangible, 3D form is rather mind-blowing for all of us here at Johnny Cupcakes. The process of getting them made was one that we learned a lot from. It took a long time, but it was worth every bit of effort as now we get to hand them over to all of you. Display them in your room, decorate your cubicle, trade them, paint them… we’re sure you’ll come up with plenty of fun things to do with these wonderful little toys"

"As Above, So Below" stunningly beautiful projection mapping by Light Harvest at the DUMBO Art Show - including stop motion animation, and the suspension of over twenty performance artists from fly wires at sixteen feet off the ground.

From the world of light harves comes this incredible projection experience on the Manhattan Bridge which brought together many artists from varying backgrounds "Unfolding like an animated modern Botticelli painting, flowing above our heads and spreading outwards in every direction, “As Above, So Below” immersed viewers in the architecture of the Manhattan Bridge. Audiences physically entered the story and explored the shimmering surface as it ignited with messages and symbols." See the video below for a peek into the world they created...

Interesting building for a major arts institution that happens to be near the Guardian's office in a major regeneration area. I was pretty sceptical about the regeneration plans for Kings Cross (after seeing the plans). I think it's a very tricky thing to try to create 'creative' centres in cities from scratch (in an urban planned manner) as they usually need to from naturally of their own accord.... but this is a wonderful start.

                                                          'Falling fascinates me'

The bales created a simple graphic background, and we had a gigantic inflatable air mattress, like the ones used by movie stuntmen. I love Amanda's face in this photo: she looks like she's in a trance within the chaos of the hay. I shot for about four hours, rotating models. I never know who is going to end up in the final shot, or if there will even be a successful image. I guess that's the fun part for me: finding the moment where everything lines up. Not knowing what's going to come back is like a present: it's the poetry of chaos.
Paul Cézanne braves Paris's bleak midwinter
The life of a bohemian artist in 1860s Paris was fine in the summertime. Picture the picnics, the boating parties … You don’t have to imagine them for yourself, just look at the paintings of Manet and his contemporaries. But winter was tough. In this painting, Paul Cézanne – who at this time was a financially unsuccessful follower of Manet (note the Manet-like flashes of pink and blue in the dark composition) – depicts the bitter cold of an avant-garde winter. How does he illustrate it? By showing heat: the dim glow of a few coals in a cast-iron stove. This great painting is a powerful evocation of poverty in winter

This exhibition showcases the very best in contemporary art and design at prices that are affordable to the younger collector and great examples of limited edition print and design objects by up and coming artists from all over the country. Take this opportunity to invest in artists of the future as selected by some of the UK’s most distinguished authorities on art and design.

Prices range from £25 - £1000 for editioned prints and one off works.
"Printmaking is a fascinating and versatile medium,” says Mary-Alice Stack, Director of the Own Art Scheme" and provides an excellent way for people who are developing an interest in collecting contemporary art to acquire works by both well established and emerging artists."

This exhibition is presented in partnership with Land Securities and the Arts Council England's Own Art scheme, which provides interest free loans of up to £2,000 for buyers of contemporary art.

EGG PACKAGE
It is always good to see new ideas questioning standards. The traditional egg carton has been the same over the years - Here is a new concept, made by design student Éva Valicsek. It will probably not be as efficient and environmentally friendly as the current solution. But it is really good to see people challenging old ideas.
